Non-Emergency Services
American Citizen Services (ACS) is open to the public 9:00 am to 4:00 pm every weekday except Tuesday unless it is an emergency. Please call 09.88.95 to book an appointment. For after hours emergencies, contact the 24-hour Operations Center at the State Department in Washington (001-202-647-1512).
Passport Services
U.S. citizens can renew their passport with American Citizen Services, or obtain a new one, should the old one be lost while traveling in Cameroon.
Reports of Birth
A child born in Equatorial Guinea to a U.S. citizen parent may be entitled to U.S. citizenship. The parent or legal guardian should file a "Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America" (Form FS-240) as soon as possible with the Consular Section.
Federal Benefits
The Consular Section helps to process individual benefits claims and to resolve problems, investigate claims on behalf of the agency concerned, and perform other tasks as requested by the agencies and the Treasury Department or needed by the beneficiaries (see useful links below).
Estates
The Consular Section takes the responsibility for safeguarding the personal estates of U.S. citizens who die abroad if the deceased has no legal representative in Cameroon.
Property Claims
The Consular Section assists claimants by giving general information and providing a list of local attorneys in Equatorial Guinea.
Selective Service Registrations
The Section gives information on registration procedures and registers individuals. For more information visit the Selective Service Registration website.
Voting
The Consular Section provides voting information and assistance in completing the Federal Post Card Application, which may be used to register to vote and to request absentee ballots. The Section also provides Federal Write-In Absentee Ballots to persons who have applied for state ballots but do not receive them in time to be returned and counted (see useful links below).
Taxes
The Consular Section has federal tax forms available to facilitate U.S. Citizens filing their taxes. For filing assistance or other tax-related questions, please contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
