Fingerprinting

The scanning of visa applicants' index fingers in included as part of the visa application process. This process should take only a few seconds, and should not add any time to the process for applicants requiring a visa interview. Fingerprints collected during this process will be linked to other identifying data to ensure that travelers to the United States are properly identified and documented.
