Ambassador Marquardt warmly welcomed members of the American business community, as well as the Vice-President of Equatorial Guinea's Chamber of Commerce, to recognize the newly created American Chamber of Commerce in Malabo.

The interim Board of Directors, led by Interim President Jim Seale, were introduced, and made a presentation about the benefits of AmCham membership. The Ambassador and DCM Sarah Morrison congratulated the leadership of the American Chamber of Commerce and affirmed that the Chamber will be a valuable resource not just for Americans and others who share American business principles and ethics, but also for Equatoguineans who stand to benefit as they begin to rapidly embark on their own business development within the country. The Ambassador also used the occasion to discuss the future evolution of consular services at Embassy Malabo, which drew strong praise from those present.
