Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, Dr. Jendayi Frazer traveled to Equatorial Guinea Monday, February 13, 2006. Assistant Secretary Frazer arrived in Malabo and met with Equato-Guinean Foreign Minister Micha Ondo Bile. Assistant Secretary Frazer had a series of meetings with other government officials and with the American Chamber of Commerce during her stay in Malabo. She also launched the new consular section at Embassy Malabo and visited a health clinic involved in anti-malarial efforts supported by a U.S. oil company working in the country. Dr. Frazer then traveled to Bata, on the mainland of Equatorial Guinea, where she was hosted by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. Dr. Frazer and President Obiang discussed bilateral issues. Dr. Frazer was accompanied to Equatorial Guinea by Dr. Cindy Courville, Senior Director for African Affairs at the National Security Council. (Photo gallery)
